Stereo Inoperative After Battery Replacement?

Hello, I've recently replaced the twelve-volt battery in my '1994 318 is' but unfortunately there have been some electrical issues ever since. Primarily, the stock BMW radio no longer makes a sound nor plays a cassette?!? What's more perplexing is that it apparently has power because the LCD screen lights up. I imagine the problem may be due to detaching the old battery incorrectly and perhaps causing a short circuit? If anyone has experience with this type of situation, I'd greatly appreciate any advice.

You need to enter the radio code #. The dealer can look it up? GL

Stereo Inoperative After Battery Replacement?

Hey, thanks for the advice HyeTide. I had in fact tried entering the anti-theft radio code repeatedly before posting. Unfortunately, the system currently installed has a burned-out LCD screen so I can't be sure when it's actually in the 'code request mode.' Over the last few days, I've tried off and on entering the five digit number with the preset digits and would continually receive the 'beep' sound that would indicate no success. Strangely enough, I went outside to the car earlier, started up the engine and quickly entered the code when the familiar white noise of "radioland" miraculously cracked from the speakers. I don't know what was done differently the previous hundred or so times. Guess I'll simply chalk it up to dumb luck!?! Thanks again!
