E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
I was wondering what does that "memo" button do? it's right next to the "SET/RES" button, all I notice it doing is when you press it a litte "signal" show next to your clock
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.
Yeah, when it's on it beems twice on the hour. No practical use IMO, but just cool. Friends are in the car. "Beeeeep, beeeeep". "Whoa, what was that?" "Oh, that's just my car letting me know it's 3 o'clock." haha

Lol, I remember when I first got my car, I was pushing all the buttons on the OBC, and I turned on the memo, for months afterwards my car would make that sound and I would freak out cuz I couldn't figure out what was wrong and why it did it...

Ha, when I first got it I was convinced it was something with recording memos, like voice notes... so I kept holding it down and tapping it a few times trying to make something else happen. Stuff like that. haha

LOL I was wondering about that too... but I found out this feature is actually even described in the manual!
Now WHY on earth would you need your car to beep on every full hour you ask? Well, in Germany, traditionally, all radio stations have a newscast on the full hour, which is always followed by a traffic update. (Yes, that's an ALL radio stations! No music for you for five minutes ).
So the beep is to remind you to stop off that tape you're listening to and find out what's new in the world... needless to say this feature is quite obsolete these days and was probably never even needed in the US.
Well, now you can go tell all your friends how German your car is
