Fixed!!! Trunk wont open 318i
Hi all and thanks to those that tried to help with my problem...( trunk wont open 318i )
Well I finally got around to fixing the trunk by the following fix.
I used a 50mm holesaw using the coordinates of 40mm right of the lock barrel on the trunk and 70mm down from the number plate lights.
I then drilled the hole and simply got the connecting rod that had come away from the main barrel and pulled upwards to open the trunk.
Once open I unclipped the carpet to expose the the area and set about to reposition the rod and secure same using 3 zip ties.I then plugged the hole with a condiment lid that fitted the hole.
(I will repalce the lid with a rubber grommet when shops reopen after Xmas)
Finally I rescrewed the number plate back into place and hosed off the area..ALL DONE!
Regards to all and pics are attached...JOHN

I made a typo error in my post in saying I used a 50mm holesaw ...that should read 25mm holesaw. Also dont forget to treat the cut area or it will rust.
