Boot not opening 318i sedan 1997
 

Hi all........This is John from Caloundra Queensland Australia.
I have a nice well kept 318i sedan 1997......with a boot that refuses to open with a key or remotely.
My question is.......is there a latch or pull cable somewhere to open the boot so that I can set about repairing the problem.
I would really like to hear your comments. This is my first post.

by boot I am assuming you mean the trunk. If you can drop the seats down you can probably pull the emergency trunk release. If that doesn't work spray some WD40 inside the key hole let it sit for a bit and try again

thanks for your reply.........yes i mean trunk and where exactly can i find the release catch?...........the mechanism seems to click and the keys are fine in the barrel.....I suspect that a linkage has come away between the barrel and the hinge.

Been a while since I've been inside a E36.... it's in the carpeted area in the top section of the trunk, on the other side of where your plate would be
