Diagnostics problem
Hi fellow bimmerheads,
I have a problem getting my car diagnosed. When they hook up the computer it doesn't produce any codes. Even doing the manual ( driver side ) diagnostics won't work.
It has some rough idling after i step my accelerator too much and i want to know if there's a problem on its sensor.
I have a 92 e36 325i
Thanks,
Luke
BTW this is my first post and its really nice to be in a company of e36ers

How old is your fuel filter? Any gas seepage anywhere? Vacuum leaks don't usually pop codes if they're small, that's also a possibility. Do you have anything to smoke test the system with?

@ David .... thanks for the link.....i will try again the OBD 1 diagnosis thru the dashboard. Last time my mechanic was not able to list down the codes...not sure if he knew those blinking check engine light were the codes.
@Big Devil ...... fuel filter is about 3 years old. Are you referring emission testing on the smoke test? Had it tested last December and it was within normal limits

The smoke test I was referring to is when you pump an inert smoke into the vac system of the car to look for leaks. Shops do it with a big fancy machine that basically amount to a party fogger.
If you have flashing lights though you may have a code(s) and we can help more effectively.
