Grounded on a speed bump and this fell off....

Hey guys.

Pulling in to a car park the other day and as i turned in they had the worlds most ridiculous speed bumps. Couple of scrapes and knocks and as i pull in to a space i hear this thump... I got out to find a piece of my car on the floor!! It appears to have fallen of the exhaust system but i can't figure out what it is, can any one help identify it?

Picture Here

Thanks for any help.

Looks like the harmonic isolator. It's used to counteract the natural harmonics and vibrations of the exhaust system to help smooth out the ride quality. Looks like you may have some exhaust system rust issues happening too. Grab a new one from a salvage yard, takes about 10 minutes to fix.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. Some one said it looked like a weight to stop vibrations (thing weighs quite a bit) but that makes a bit more sense now. At least i know it's not critical. The system itself didn't look too bad while i was under there, centre section is ok but the back box is totally rusted to sh!t. I feel a wallet dent coming on

That's exactly what it is.

Muffler? Saw that bad boy off and slap a flowmaster II on there. Great mellow rip sound and the muffler's cheap like around 40 bucks or so.
