1998 e36 will crank but not fire
My 328 will not fire up battery is good, there does not seem to be any voltage going to the relays to engage fuel pump although the fuel pump will work if you jump it.. There is only two volts running to the relay in the fuse box through the red wires. I dont think that it is firing the spark plugs either. any suggestions??

2 volts TO the relay or FROM the relay? If you have 2 volts TO the relay you have high resistance in the power feed (bad news, pain in the butt). 2 Volts FROM the relay, most likely a bad relay replace it and see what happens.

Rats. Ok so it's either pin 85 or 86 that's getting the 2 volts (would only be one of them) and/or pin 30? If it's 85 or 86 it could be from a weak switch, pin 30 is a bit different. You'll need a wiring diagram and back trace through the connects with a meter, voltage drop test will find it better than ohming the wires.

turns out it was the computer...has been getting wet and corroded. I took it out and cleaned it up really good, put it back in and hey it works!!! The mechanic couldn't believe it. The bill went from a possible $2000 to $200, whew!!

how difficult is it to put new front control arm bushings on, can it be done without removing the entire control arm? How would you suggest "sealing" the computer?

I don't know what's involved in sealing the computer, but my advice is to save yourself the trouble and just replace the control arms as a whole. On both a dollar and a time basis, believe it or not it makes sense. This would also provide the opportunity to do some upgrading if you're inclined, by putting in '95 M3 spec control arms, which come with stronger bushings. These have a somewhat different steering geometry to them, and will require realignment once the job is done, but it makes for a nice difference, I speak from personal experience.

On the computer sealing, where/how did the water get in? If it did it once and you don't either replace the cracked or missing or otherwise damaged bit, it will do it again.

What computer are you talking about ? And how the hell do you get to it ? If you are referring to the main ECU - or Electronics Control Unit - these are not able to be ' cleaned and refitted ' as far as I know . They have to be replaced and a new set of coded ignition keys obtained. All expensive drama .
