help with a blown e36
Ok so I am new to this, and can't figure out how to make a post. Well here is what is going on. I went to the track for the first time after installing my supercharger and snapped my driveshaft. Well I finally got the money together to order a custom one and when I installed it I didn't put the heat shield back on. Now the car ran fine for the first day of driving around town but the next day I had to drive to Norfolk Va. Well is was hot as hell out and 2-2 1/2 hours into the trip I hit traffic and and my car started to bogg out, stalled and would restart but bogg out and die again. I was furious I was 2 1/2 hours away from home and my phone was dying and my car was dead..... well after about an hour of sitting on the side of the road I tried to restart it and it ran fine. so another 2 hours goes by and I hit more traffic and the same thing happened again so I got towed the rest of the way to work. Now here is the question, Does anyone else think that this is Vapor Lock? that is the only thing I could think it could be, It ran fine before changing the driveshaft and removed the heat shield and now its doing this. Any Ideas would help. Thanks.

I was told that Vapor lock wasn't possible on a newer vehicle with an electric fuel pump.... I don't know how true that is but everyone is agreeing that being lazy and not reinstalling the heat shield is most likely the problem. Like my father always tells me "You have the time to do it twice but not to do it right the fist time" You would think I would learn to listen to him and people that have many more years working on cars then I do. Well I go home on the 15th and have to have the wife drive the truck down so I can tow it home and fix it and I will let everyone know how it works out.
-To Scooter; How do I make a new post on this site? I don't even know how this one got posted. I can not find a link to make a new post on this site anywhere. Please help me out with that too.

Vapor lock IS possible with a fuel injected car (I have seen it with my own eyes) but it is however VERY rare, and is only really possible with a thirsty forced injection engine and not a big enough pump/pressure. And yes, put the shield back on it may be something else it's covering that's getting unhappy. Good luck
