1996 328i auto tranny clunk noise
Hello,
when I put my car in gear in makes a pretty hard clunk noise. Well mainly reverse. If I put my foot on the brake real hard it lessens it. i notice it mainly when pulling out of driveway, putting it in reverese, then into drive. Any ideas would be helpfull.
I was thinking of changing the tranny fluid and hoping that is it.

Rubber guibo on the rear of the trans, worn out center support bearing on drive shaft, or failing u joints in the drive shaft would be the first few things to check
