my 316i wont start.

hey guys i have a 1994 e36 316i.

since yesterday i have been trying to start my car but it just doesnt start.. the engine keeps cranking but it doesnt start..fuel delivery and current to the plugs is perfectly fine. the car started doing this after it rained for two days though i did not take the car out in the rain, it was at home parked in the garage through out.

can it be moisture?? and also i cleaned the maf sensor with electrical component cleaner as in i opened the top cover and cleaned the element. the car was starting even after the cleaning but today its not starting at all!!!!

please any help would be appreciated

Sometimes that cleaner stuff can strip the protective coating off the MAF wires. Then in high humidity they corrode/degrade. POSSIBLY what you might be dealing with. Does the little engine light on the dash go out while your cranking the engine? If not the computer isn't getting a crank sensor. Couple of things worth looking at.

Should be a little engine shaped light on the instrument cluster that comes on with the key in the "on" position and goes out when you start cranking the engine over. As far as the spark is concerned anything that diminishes/prevents it from happening will/can stop the car from starting.

hey bro my car finally started on its on.. i kept cranking the engine and after like two three minutes the engine started..but there is alot of missing in the engine as in after four thousand rpm the car starts lagging..its not going above four thousand rpm,its like the engine misfires after four thousand..feels like low current or fuel...what could it be?
also could you please tell me a simple to way to check for vaccum leaks??

To check for vac leaks you need a smoke machine. You can actually use a party fogger, just rig up a hose attachment and then pump smoke into the vac system. You'll want to pump it in before and after the throttle plate to check both sides of the system. When you see smoke coming out, there's your leak
