E36 1998 BMW 316i - Climate Control
Hi, I have a problem with my climate control, basically the power is not very strong, using the control panel I increase the power but very little happens, at full power it is as if I am only on half power, I have heat and A/C fine very hot and very cold but because no power its doesnt seem to work well, not sure what the problem is, has anybody had this problem and can anyone help or give me advice, awaiting your help.

Define no power, lack of airspeed/volume out of the vents? Could be a clogged microfilter, clogged intake under the front cowling, excessive resistance in the power wire to the fan motor or the fan motor giving up the ghost. Could also be the squirrel cage slipping off the fan motor shaft.

Anything below the windshield where the fresh air intake for the cabin is. If you can find access to an amprobe it's a good way to check how much current the fan motor is pulling (put the inductive loop around the power wire to the motor). Other option is a faulty resistor pack for the fan motor speed selector, but if that goes out you should still have full speed. Can you hear the fan working and just no air coming out? if so that could be a stuck or failed mode select door. Next option may be to go see someone with a scan tool and check for codes but that'll only work if you have auto climate control.
