changing fan viscous clutch .. help! :)
hi there. just trying to get some advice. i am going to order a new fan viscous clutch part for my '94 e36. the temperature has been creeping up in idle/stop/start traffic driving. i have been driving around with the a/c on full heat and this keeps the temp down but i have had enough of staring at the temp gauge and cooking inside the car, especially since now the electric front windows have stopped working!
i have two questions ..
1. could someone talk me through removing the fan and replacing the clutch and putting it back on? i hear i have to have a 32mm spanner, and do up the bolt anticlockwise and that it's self tightening? are there any things to look out for, any tricky things when doing this?
any ideas on how to check the thermostat? the top return hose from the rad is hot to touch after driving .. seems to be up to speed ..
also how can i check that the water pump is not the plastic variety?
2. my electric front windows have stopped working, could you walk me through a logical step by step for checking/ruling out certain reasons for the windows not working, so that i can get them working again?
