Hello,
I have a 93 318i that I recently had a problem with. I went to start it and it cranked over really fast and sounded like a motor without spark plugs. I thought the timing chain broke. I brought it to a mechanic because I didn't have time to fiddle with it and he got it running. He did a compression test and said there was about 50psi in the cylinders. He put some oil in the cylinders and said the compression jumped up to 200psi. He thought maybe the cylinders got washed out with gas. He also notice the rear plug had oil on it because of a defective valve cover gasket which is now replaced. The car started up normally after that. He checked sensors and such but he couldn't find anything wrong. I am curious to see if anyone has experienced this situation in the event it happens again. The car is running fine now.
Any help would be appreciated.
