how to replace hood struts?

i have a 1993 318i and there's a little pin that attaches the strut to the clip that connects to the hood. anybody know how to take this pin off?

or does anybody know of a DIY hood strut replacement manual besides pelican's (they just say "remove the pin")?

its really that simple, with a small screwdriver pull to remove the clips on top and bottom and pull the strut out.

Here's how to replace the hood strut. By the way, always remember to wear safety glasses when working on cars. First is to lift the hood then remove the retaining clips from the strut pivot points. Then remove the faulty hood strut.
