hey what is slick 50?
hey guys does anyone know what slick 50 is? my mechanic told me its this white liquid which can be put in old engines for good performance if the piston rings are worn out or if its giving out blue smoke..???
do u think i should use it in my car becuase i have high miles plus my cars burning oil??
It's usually recommended not to use oil additives, because in the long term they hurt oil performance.
That aside, I've used slick 50 in non-bmw high mileage vehicles, and it's done wonders. My 170k van wouldn't maintain oil pressure so I tried slick 50, and it's running strong at 190k. I haven't seen the oil pressure drop since using slick 50

hey motor werks thanks alot for the help its helped alot.. dude can u just tell me what the procedure is to put slick 50 as in what slick fifty to oil ratio i should follow and should i put it when the car is hot,any details on how to go abt it???..ANd which spark plugs should i put in my e36 316i, currently i have the four pin bosch ones?
The bosch 4 are a waste of money IMO. There are quite a few people on other BMW forums that complain that the bosch 4's caused more problems than anything.
Spark plugs - NGK BKR6E Less than $2 a plug, and they will work as good if not better than every plug on the market.
Replace a quart of oil with a quart of slick 50. You might want to consider running a slightly heavier weight oil as well. This will help keep the oil from leaking out of the seals as fast.
I would change the oil, and run the slick 50 a little bit before changing the plugs. Changing the plugs should fix your power issues, you could also consider "seafoaming". I've never done it on a 4 cyl, but on a six you just run it thought the brake booster line. "youtube" seafoam BMW
