Tell me about HFM's
I spent tonight looking into the whole "camshaft and m50" scenario when i stumbled upon the idea of a new HFM. The gains seem to be really good (20 aprox.). What it does is takes the 3" plumbing and makes it 3.5". Granted I would need to get a cosmos 3.5" CAI which i was gonna do anyway, but I just wanted to know if you guys had any other info or insight into this modification?

More air = more power. Simple as that. The stock bmw HFM's suck on some bimmers. I am planning to get that kit too, it does alot.

from what i have heard this will not do anything for non m's. the gains are minimal and there is no software available to run it. maybe with a camkit you would see gains try it and report back
If only I could remember... When I was looking into intakes and told someone I was going with the CosmoS racing one they told me they had done this and loved it, I'll look for the thread for you...
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.

No problem, you got me interested in this too , specially since my mom drives an E39 540i, but before I experiment with her HFM, I'll try to find out if it's safe for both ym car and her HFM...

the problem is you need custom software for this mod to work. no companies make this software so it is very expensive for minimal gains. the tuning companies do not make the software for the 328 because in stock form it does not have enoughpower to make use of the extra airflow.
and remember that jilphans car is obd1 so it is easier to get custom software. as i recall he also had huge problems getting this to work properly.
