E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
I occasionally read on people's mod lists that they have 24lb. injectors. What's the purpose of upgrading this? Why do it?
I was just wondering about this and decided to post it .... haha, maybe some other people don't know much about them either.
I'm guessing it's something for balancing out the engine if you have a lot of air coming in from mods, to add more fuel to the mixture? I could be completely wrong though.

Komodo,
Just wondering;with all the mod that you made like the Dinan intake,M50 Mainfold Z8 push style etc: Won't that effect the insurance?
Here the insurance will not cover if they found some moddi to the body and enjines.Even the Transport dept here will impose a fine of $1 500 and impound the car for the officer to take them off like the Aftermarket exhaust, rims, bodykits. If they found out the enjine is modified, the car is considered written off.
Nope, you're allowed to modify your car within reason over here.
The insurance doesn't cover aftermarket parts though. For example if you have a kit on the front and you hit a tree, they'll only pay as much as an OEM kit costs. You're allowed to do any kind of modifications you want and it doesn't affect your insurance unless you do an engine transplant... which you're supposted to report. haha
Now the police over here enforce certain things such as tint level and color of lights (no blue in the front for example, obviously because it can easily look like a policecar). If you're caught with something like tint that is too dark, they'll give you a $10 fix-it-ticket and make you take it off soon'ish, and that's the end of it.

They're pretty lax on car modding in the US.
Wow, Cars mostly here are stock but some of my friends did some mod on their Toyota Vios,Mit Lancer and Mit Pajero like the spoiler ,rims ,big muffler. But if there's a police roadblock, he'll be fine.
and time for inspection they will take it off the spoiler and muffler and put back the original rims to pass the inspection. I've notice the US has no restriction on modding.I've seen MTV "Pimp my ride" with all those awesome mods. All the mods would be more expensive than the actual car .
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.
He says its a joke prolly because of the rice factor. Lets take an 89 corolla, paint it, put about 12 TV's and subwoofers in it = rice times ten..
As far as injectors go, your on the right track komodo. You mainly see bigger injectors when it comes to forced induction- super/turbo charged setups. THe increased air flow will be too much for the whimpy 17lbs injectors and you'll run lean. The more air coming in the more fuel you want coming in as well..
I think it is pointless to just get bigger injectors. Your DME wont know what to do with that extra fuel. It will hurt your MPG too. does anyone just have bigger injectors??

yeah, e36bimmer has it. Upgrading your injectors is pointless unless you are running such an increased amount of air (like in F/I) that the stock injectors can not compensate for all the air. If you run stock injectors and reprogram or chip your ECU the stock fuel system should be able to handle it.

There is no reason to run bigger injectors without F/I but it makes a world of a difference if you have f/i with bigger injectors... Oh and OBD II programming can get expensive....lucky OBD I ppl....they suck
