Bumper Cover repair

My bumper cover has pretty bad road rash to the point where I need to use some sort of filler for some deep gouges. So what I am trying to find out is what is the best material. I want the filler to last and not crack or peel off,the cover is the OEM part, can anybody help? I heard that regular body putty can absorb moisture and crack. Thanks

Do you mean the vinyl insert or the fiberglass or vinyl (or whatever it is) portion matched to the color of the body of the car?

Although I could be wrong, I doubt that auto body filler would work, adhesion being one possible problem, flexing of the cover being another. I wonder if some type of epoxy is the answer. Check with an auto body shop or car parts place, they might know of something worthwhile short of replacing the entire component.

I found a couple of products that are specifically for flexible parts,
Evercoat Poly-flex,and 3M Automix 5887,although with the 3M you need a gun which is around $80,the filler is around $35 for both. Thanks for the input.

Depending upon how much you have to do, and supplying your own labor, the $80 may be worth it, and almost certainly less than what an auto body shop would cost.
