Radio code

Lately, on occasion, the "code" message would come on on my stock radio upon starting the car. I'd then enter the number and everything works just fine. This has happened maybe six or so times over the past two weeks, and not every time I start or restart the car either; it seems random. I haven't been experiencing any electrical problems, the battery is only about a year old, so I don't know what's going on :dunno , anyone have any ideas...?

I had excatly the same problem with my 96' 328. It will start getting worst and eventually it will not work at all. I replaced the unit another stock radio (which I got from the junk yard) and had no more problems. Initially I thought there was a problem with wiring or something.
