You might have a little air in the system. Try bleeding the radiator to see if that cures the problem.
What does your temperature gauge read? It should be in the centre of the dial when warmed up.
Hi, I have the same problem with my 95 325i. Cold air in idle, warm at 2200 rpm, hot at 3000 rpm. I was told today to park on a steep uphill and bleed system, got nothing..... Another place told me the impeller in the water pump could be slipping or is worn. It would be a 150 dollar tryout lol. Anyone else here with the problem or maybe with a solution? My gauge is in the center and does not move to much and I did a temp check with a Laser gun today on the hoses. One read 175 and the other around 110.

that does sound like you got some air in your system, if bleeding it didn't help I'm assuming its the water pump (if stock, plastic) or and if it's overheating, is a serious sign pointing to the radiator. good luck
If the car still has the original plastic thermostat cover, I would put on a new thermostat cover while I was at it. I re-used one last year and ended up pulling off the fan again last month to put on a new aluminum thermostat cover because the plastic one leaked.
This is not terribly expensive, though it adds up if you are like me and tend to replace every plastic or rubber part you touch so you don't have to work on the car again soon. When I did my water pump, I replaced the thermostat, the radiator, expansion tank, and all the hoses. The only part I failed to replace was the stupid thermostat cover.
On-line prices:
Water pump, Graf (if needed) $61
Thermostat, Wahler or Behr $20
Thermostat housing, aluminum $12 around $15 for plastic
Gallon of BMW antifreeze $20
If these parts are original, they are overdue for replacement anyway. Actually, if they have been replaced once and the car has over 200k miles in it, they are about due to be replaced again. If the expansion tank is original, It is crumbling inside by now. $40
Hardest part of the job is making the tool to hold the fan still so you can get it off. You need a long thin metal bar from the hardware store, a drill, and a grinder.
The fan is left-handed thread.
If you pull the radiator, and you leave the transmission cooler attached to the car like I do, unbolting the transmission cooler from the radiator is a bit of a PITA.
[QUOTE=Manolito;174704]I vote for thermostat stuck open.
Thanks for the good advise, things to look for. Now one more thing, what idiot designed the Air bleed screw to be plastic??? Mine just broke and the next BMW Dealer is over a hundred miles away

Still working on it. If I am lucky I will get the Airbleed screw tomorrow. After that I will tackle the thermostat and housing. Lets see if I have to change the water pump too.
Good luck everyone

forgot to post the result....
New Air-bleed screw fixed everything. I guess the old one already had extremely fine cracks were she could suck in air.
