near tradegy! help!
so i went to some air show, at a beach a couple miles away from my house today, in which i have to take a parkway!
anyways, to make a long story short.. iw as crusing at 65.. and tried to set the cuise control... and acceled to 70, and it kept on increaseing speed, i tried turning it off... i tried hitting the break and nothing worked...
i keeped on accelerating to speeds up to 100 mph.. after trying to slow the car down, and absolutly killing my brakes.. i turned the igniton off and came to a stop on the shoulder of the road...
tried turning the car back on, and the car shot to rev limiter... turned the car off again, popped the hood, and took off the cruise control disconnected the battery, waited 15 mins, put everything back on and turned on the car.. after i did all this, the car started fine, and i was able to make it home another 5 miles...
anyways, it was scary and i have no idea whats wrong with it.. i am now afraid to use cruise control again, to see if it'll happen again...
Oh b-Jesus! That's my biggest fear about cruise control. I think I used mine only once, just to check if it worked. But please keep us informed as to what you find out.
On the OT: air show at Jones Beach? I was supposed to be there, but my plans fell through
Hope that gets resolved soon! In the case of the car taking off like that, instead of burning the brakes -- consider cutting the ignition with the key and pulling off with 4 way flashers on
