318is 1995 door lock problems - United Bimmer Community

Just Got My New 1995 318is

But it has some lock issues

I can't lock my doors if it do then I wont be able to get in the car

I can lock the drivers side door with the key but it will not unlock the doors

The passenger side door latch is broken so it cannot be opened for the outside

The passenger side door lock only unlocks the passenger side door

And I do not know how too lock the trunk..

Can any1 help me.......

Open the trunk and you'll see a wire loom there between the trunk lid and body of the car. Open the tape and rubber boot protecting the wires of this loom. You most likely will see some of the wires inside pinched, burnt, and damaged. If so this is what is causing your grief.

Looking at the loom from the outside won't help assess problems as most of the time the wire loom shows no signs of physical damage. If repairs are needed, disconnect the battery first before working on the car otherwise, sparks and smoke shows will arise.
