they told me :No fluid in your transmission!!

Yesterday I taked my car e36 325i( which I bought recently ) to a bmw workshop to replace the transmission fluid & it's filter.
When they checked the fluid by opening the bolt which is down of transmission, nothing come out!! they told me there is no fluid in the tranmission!!?:eyecrazy. How is that come or happen!! Is the fluid can evaporate:dunno??

anyway, I asked them to fill it up and change the filter.
My car was nice in shifting & I didn't see any thing wrong in it. Except when I move the gear from D to N, a rough hit come , but it's not strong.

I hope no thing danger happened to the gear, and hope I decided to check it in the exact time, before any thing wrong happen.

When we suppose to change the fluid.(5000-20000-30000km)
Is there a long life fluid for our cars ??

The rough hit gone, and every thing is fine. ( thanks god )

About the fluid which I use, it's not a bmw fluid, it's Dexronlll, which is compatible with all e36 transmissions. this is what's avilable in our market.
I tryed to do it in bmw service, but they told me that they dont give theis service & they never change the transmission fluid, because they R using long life fluid, and if I need, I can go to the out bmw workshop they can do it for me!!.

Is there a special fluid for that bmw which it's gearbox is made by GM? or it's same Dexronlll?

Thanks,

In general, Dextron fluid is fine in GM auto transmissions, which is the auto transmission built into most BMWs

Dextron ? i used the original BMW fluid, sound fine and they told me after 30000 KM you have to replace the fluid i am planning to replace my trany mounts and ceter-rbearing and see what will happen ,,

btw, is it true that ur not suposed to change the fluid after 50,000 miles or the tranny will go bad? thats what they told my freinds mom when she went to change the fluid in her caravan's transmission.
