Gauge help needed

Hi all,

I’m new to this forum.
First I will start with introducing myself.

I’m Alex and I am 26 years old and live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Since 4 months I am the proud owner of a ’94 325i Coupe.

Now I have the following problem:

My speedo and RPM gauges differ from reality.

The idle RPM is 1000 which is wrong.
The more RPMs it make the more it differs.
My redline is at 7 ‘O clock!

When I the speedo reads 120 KMH it is actually around 100 KMH.
I drove drove 240 KMH in 4th gear!!

I bought another dash but the problem persists.

Do you have any ideas??

Alex

you have to check the differential is it for 320i or 325i first of all and then you have to make sure that the tire size is compatible (205/60 R15) or (205/55 R16) or (205/50 R17),
also check ur gearbox is it for 325i or other bmw model?
but once you drive 120km how do you know that ur driving at 100km? you have some device or you just compare ur speed with another car?

My car idles at 900-1000 rpm, so 1000 might not be wrong for you. However, I have a 318.

Where are you getting your 'accurate' information from? Past experience? Police radar? I'm just curious...

@Max79 : How can I see if the diff or the gearbox is for a 320 or 325?

@Mullethunter3 : I compared to a friends car, and.......also police radar.

As far as seeing if the tranny and diff are from the 320 or 325, I'd crawl under there and look for some part numbers, find a manual and compare it to what should be under there.
