Opinions of Fan Delete
I think I am gonna do a fan delete soon. I wasnt planning on getting any mods until my full cam kit etc.(saving up) but my friends good friend works in some ware house and can get me the full fan delete kit for 60 bucks, plus inst. I have heard mixed opinions on it, like it causes overheating and decreses performance when your tracking when the engines hot but alot of good things as well. Do any of you know anything about it? I dont know much about this mod, other than it deletes ur fan ha.

I know understeer makes a nice fan delete kit though if you're interested in it.

my friends getting it installed on his m coupe from this warehouse guy, I'll see how it goes.

The people than I know have done it, had a slight heating issue but that was resolved by adding some watter wetter
|
The Understeer kit incudes "water wetter", a low temp thermostat, a low temp aux fan switch. They also have a write-up on whether you will overheat. I have heard that some people in very hot areas of the country have added a small electric fan, (flexlite, spall) to help with cooling. They claim 6 to 8 hp increase.

my engine revs much more freely than it did before. i think it is a great mod. so far i have had no issues with over heating. the temp stays right in the middle where it should be. the new temp switch activates the electric fan at a lower temp so that replaces some of the cooling capacity of the aux. fan. make sure to get the watter wetter. i used 2 bottle in my coolant :)

I just rode in the M coupe with the delete kit and it rides alot smoother and more free. Its interesting because it feels so much different. I didnt notice an immedient power difference but he was ravving about it. I'll probably end up getting one within the next few weeks.

I will. It was an awsome investment on the M coupe. I would recommend it to anyone with 150 bucks laying around. |
just take the fan off and run the car...no need for a fan delete kit...I know someone who has done that to all 4 E36's that he has owned and he has had not one problem with overheating....don't even waste your time with a pricey fan delete kit...just my .02

i would make sure to get the water wetter. if you live in a hot climate the kit would be good because it has a switch that lowers the temp at which the electric fan comes on.
