unknown hose
Hey everyone
I have an 1995 e36 and on the air intake (where the air filter is located) it looks like there are two hoses underneath that connect to an elbow one of them broke off with the plastic still inside. In the hose it looks ike there is coolant in it. The car runs fine and it doesnt overheat. Does anybody know what it does?

Sounds like the vaccum line hat runs off your intake boot. Some time soon it should cause a check engine light to come on for unmetered air leak. If you get a pair of needle nose plyers and pull out the old plastic its a cheap part to replace. Just lube it up when your putting it back in.

Thanks that sounds about rite I just thought it was strange to see a hose with coolant in it connected to the intake will this cause the coolant to leak?
The hoses are attached to the intake air temp switch on the airbox. It allows antifreeze to warm the throttle body air via the two hoses during the winter months. The switch is probably in the closed position at the moment, which is why there is no leak. But when it gets real cold, it might open up and your coolant will come out.

yeah, when I got my intake a few years back, mine just hang in the engine compartment, I mean I ziptied them to something thats about it. Some intakes have spots for them to attach to which is nice.
