Glitchy Gauge Needles.....Help

Well I am having a problem with my speedo and tech needles. They operate but very glitchy. If I am about when I acel or decel the needles will get stuck at random spots. I have to hit the dash to get them to update their position. It is very Cold here....could that have anything to do with it. I think my Thermostat needs replacing as well so It does not warm up very well either.... Thanks for any help you can give me.

It might be a connection to the instruments that is bad or has a short.
