Help removing A/C belt
I have narrowed the noise coming from my car to the belt that runs the A/C. I looked up how to replace the belt and I need to loosen the pulley which keeps the belt tight as the fan runs the belt, etc. But my problem is that after an hour and a half of trying to loosen the bolt which keeps the pulley pressed against the belt. does anyone know how to loosen the pulley or change the belt without loosening the pulley? I've sprayed the bolt with wd-40 and metal loosener, but nothing has worked.
help?!?!?!? |
lol, I just did this when I changed pulleys, so am probably in the best position to give you an answer to this. Ok, when you look at you AC pulley, their should be a small pulley close to it (between your crank and your ac pulley) That's your tensioner, it looks like a little shock, it has 3 bolts the one in the middle has a cover. The top bolt (I think a 10 mm or 13 mm could even be 16mm) is what you will need to do, get your self a wrench and use some elbow grease on it and tighten it so that the all thing should come down, and that's when you take the ac belt off.
