E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
So After I went to get my oil change today, and I've noticed this like forever ago but I just now think i spotted where it's coming from. When my mom was driving my car back I could hear this Rattling/ticking noise. but it sounded more like a rattleing noise. From what seemed to be coming from the middle of the car, like underneath where ur Cats and stuff are. I've heard bad Catalytic converters can make a marble under tin can noise. which seemed similar to what it was. but it was only really when she was accelerating that it made the noise, if she was just coasting , it'd go away.?
I've heard lifters....but this is more of a rattle and not a tap. and if my lifters were tapping they'd prolly still be doing it when ur not accelerating too....?
any ideas? injectors perhaps? the guy that owned my car before me didnt use 93.

Theres an exhaust mount that mounts to the back of the trans. They ALWAYS rust and cause rattles. At most 50$ in parts, you can do it yourself.
