Brake Lights - Please Help
None of my rear lights are working.. none. I replaced the brake light switch down by the brake pedal tonight and they still don't work. I replaced the fuse for the brake lights and.. they still don't work. None of them. I turn my car on at night and look in the back and I have no lights on.. none. What could this possibly be? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Oh, and.. my headlights have been acting up as well. My mechanic "rigged" the lights to work until he "gets the new switch in".. but the more work I do myself to the car, the less I start to trust the mechanic.

How is the fuse box? Got a multimeter? If so, you can check for voltage at the light sockets |

I replaced the fuse (#46, I believe) with a fresh fuse from NAPA. No go. I don't have a multimeter though.. I've been reading around and I hear it could be a ground problem. Where would I look for the ground connection to see if it's bad? |

If the multimeter reads + 11 or more at the light sockets with a local ground, then a ground issue is the problem. |

I don't have a multimeter to test this right now.. for now I can at least check to see if it came loose. Problem is, I don't know where the ground wire would be for this.. any help? |

Also, possibly of interest for diagnosis... my license plate holder lights work.. but nothing else on the back. |

Do you mean to say that you don't have a headlight switch? Most of the wiring for the exterior lighting runs through this switch, so if it's bad, then that's your culprit.

Yep, I do believe my headlight switch is bad.. that would effect my brake lights / rear lights as well? Thanks! |
