What? It might just be late, but I'm confused.

What is the heater element light on the dash? What are the plugs? Fuses? Spark plugs? And what real problems is this causing with the car? Can you still drive it? Is it just annoying? I think we're going to need some specifics here.

His car is a diesel. The plugs are pre-start cylinder heaters called glow plugs. They preheat the cylinders for about 15 seconds or so before engine start. Diesels are compression ignition engines, there are no spark plugs. The dash light probably indicates when glow plugs are done and you can start the engine, as to what relay, I'm not sure (my diesel know how comes from the family boat)

i had new heat plugs installed to see if it rectified the problem
still no dash light and the car is killing the battery trying to start it now its gone really cold (the plugs are not working because some thing is wrong )
i went to bmw today and they want £78.50 plus vat just for the relays

its not looking good for my wallet
