i dont think a bad starter would cause it to die like that... id say check all your wires and connections first.

Ok the starter only starts the car, it has nothing to do with the normal ignition system. By wires he means wires leading to your spark plug. Problems can come from your distributor cap, spark plugs, and anything with the word ignition in front of it. I've never seen it but maybe a squirrel ran up into your engine and chewed on some wires (plausible for my e30). Check your maintenance history and see when the last time all that crap was replaced it might have been overdue.

EDIT: Sorry if that was vague but whatever I shouldn't be posting after a long weekend.
PS: NYC is awesome in uniform. Comedy club ranking from this weekend (3) Ha, (2) Gotham, (1) Laugh Factory.
PPS: SNL writers strike and Broadway workers strike suck on long weekends.
PPPS: The previous edits were off topic.

maybe your alternator, that would have caused your car to die and maybe even though you think you got juice in the battery it may not be enough to start the car

Definitely NOT the starter. Have your alternator tested at a reputable place.

So... basically +3 to what was already said.

Alternator like the others said sounds like a likely culprit.
