when i turn my car on, there are 7 small bars below the odometer. the first five are yellow, then there's an orange one and a red one. the 3rd, 4th, & 5th bars are actually blocks, which i assume is my car's way of telling me something. can anyone tel me what they mean? (99 328ci)

i think those are your service/oil indicator lights. do they light when your first start the car, then go away? if so, then its def those lights. they basically count mileage and tell you when you should bring your car in for service, basically, its part of the bmw service program.

once it gets into the red or yellow zone, they will stay on all the time until its reset.
