Alarm options for my E36

I was wondering what options I have to choose from when looking for an alarm. First off I currently do not have a factory or after market alarm installed and I have a sedan (if that matters). Are there any plug and play kits or are there a lot of wires or sensors I may have to run through the doors? I don't really need a remote starter since I have a 5-speed and always keep it in gear. I just want something that will lock my doors and let me know if someone is messing with my car.

Thanks
Justin

Your car should be prewired for the alarm system. The easiest thing to do is to buy a Stellar alarm system from Bavauto. These are plug-n-play into your prewired harnesses behind the glovebox.

+1 on that one. I have a Stellar BMW45 on my car right now and the install was easy. And mine wasn't plug and play and did it in about 2 1/2 hours.

Cool, I am almost sure I will get a stellar kit after I search around to see if I can find it for cheaper on other sites.

Thanks guys!

Any D.E.I alarms will be good, the most famous one is Viper. Depending on how much you want to spend and what you want it to do, possibilities are endless. But since you said you wanted something basic, get the lower model vipers and you can add a sensor or two if you desire...
