Check engine light???
check engine light came on for no apparent reason, nothing unusual is happening and car is running fine, what's wrong?

Something wrong in the enjine maybe??The car might be fine but there must be some defect in the enjine somewhere...

Get your codes read, and make sure that whoever reads them writes everytihng down before they clear them. Then you can actually know what's going on.

^^ yes, and I guess don't worry about it for now, get the code reader, read codes, right them down, then erease them, if they come back, then you have a problem.

it mean's check your engine.................. jking.... usually on E36 it's an early sign of O2 failure..or the engine is not getting a proper mixture of fuel/o2 ratio....especially if the light came on for a short period of time. BMW told me this once....

well it's not the gas cap lol the car still runs fine haven't noticed any changes so i'm gonna sit tight for a while
