This next comment may be somewhat of a stretch, but I think there's justification for it. To some extent, the mileage on these cars is nearly irrelevant as a criterion by which to judge, whereas maintenance and repair history are. The 4- and 6-cylinder engines are almost fantastically durable and trouble free (again, if properly maintained), it's quite common on this forum to come across members with cars getting well over 200,000 miles, and every hint of continuing on.
Now long use does entail some necessary replacement of some components, and these cars did have their weaknesses in the ball joints, radiators, and water pumps, plus some others. The subframe is a more serious issue, but only for cars that have been raced or driven very hard. These are fairly inexpensive to correct, with the exception of the latter.
Maintenance is not all that big a deal, especially if you can do a fair amount of it yourself, and again, regular maintenance means the avoidance of major problems and the near irrelevance of the miles on the odometer.
I do agree with drz, the $7000 is too high, let's not get ridiculous over the mechanical attributes of the car vs. the market value.
I think people say don't by a BMW because the assume is will cost a fortune to run and maintain. I've found the opposite is true, with parts and advise cheap and easily found.
I will buy another one, perhaps an E36 328i, next; in fact I'm already looking, just to get an idea.
yeah, here's some pix:
the quality isn't good, its from a phone
now what i plan to do is:
-take care of the front end (it wasn't me, don't ask)
-take care of "check brake circuit light"
-tint
-perhaps m3 rims or hamanns
-air intake (for now)
-m3 bumper
-xenon headlights
-sports springs

I just bought a 325i with 150k and it just needed new windshield wipers to pass inspection. The bilstein heavy duty rear shocks i just put in were extremly easy to install to.
