2 Mechanics opinions, now i want yalls :-D
So with my questions about my lifters being noisy in previous threads i've been checking more into it. since it hasnt been affecting my car plus im poor I havent been worried about it as much, but they all pretty much narrowed it down to lifters
here's the thing tho One said it's probably just a noisy worn lifter, and I could try some oil sedatives like lucas etc. The other said that it's problably stuck, and it's going to damage my camshaft. but #1 said if it was stuck, i'd be feeling it cause i'd only be running on like 5 cylinders, but since my car runs Absolutely fine that it cant be that? #1 seems like it makes more sense, because if it was stuck......it seems like i'd know?:adupe |
First of all, I would suggest to change your oil. Sometimes soem carbon get stuck on your lifters making oil to jam in the system, so some parts of the engine doesn't get enough oil and make that ticking noise. Try to change oil, it is cheap enough to do it. If the problem doesn't dissapear, try using some sea foam.

i run an extra half quart in my m3, my lifters seem quite happy with that arrangement. the tick is more pronounced if it goes down bellow that lever, one of the inherent traits of the BMW inline 6 is lifter tick and its usually not terminal.

i mean it just does it when I accelerate, and I just got my oil changed too. maybe some engine honey will work? |

my car used to tick at hot/warm restart, its (the tick) usually associated with oil starvation on the track. adding a half quart seems to quite things down and normally a if its the guides its not considered terminal. since yours does it while moving/accelerating i would check the level and viscosity first, easier and cheaper then a tear down. |
well i mean it's full, as in like it's above the line
and I use 10w-30 it's like durablend half synethetic stuff? |
i think....
but I do know it's the half synthetic durablend tho but my main question is, was that if a lifter was stuck wouldnt I like...notice it? |
