Question 325is turn signal stays on [ stuck] ??

1993 325is the turn signal stays on no matter were the turn signal handle is , if it is on to the right you can turn it to the left and the right is still on .Is this electrical or mechanical [ the lever itself} if anyone has had this problem please let me know.

After you make a turn its supposed to turn off by its self? I never noticed that when ever I drive my one my parents' cars, they dont have bimmers, if the turn signal doesn't turn off after i turn, i turn it off my self, I didnt know that was a problem.
