You need not only a manifold, but also a kit to install it (hoses, or0ngs, that kind of stuff, etc.). I recommend buying the kit from koperformance.com, but many people like m50manifold.com. You won't be able to get the shark injector for cheap. It should run about $350, I believe.

You should expect about 10 - 13 bhp from the new manifold alone. If you have a CAI, maybe 8 to 10 on top of that (total hp gains will not equal the sum of the individual gains per mod). You may get another 5 - 7 from a free flowing exhaust. Sharking it will squeeze out at most another 10 hp. So my guess is that 30 - 40 bhp is possible., but I would expect closer to the lower end of that.

MTurboFanBoywithoutACar3: how is a turbo a cheap upgrade? Ugh.

Stuff like the M50 manifold and S52 cams get kinda expensive.

If your looking for gains on a budget then start with a CAI. With the intake you gain some HP but lose a bit of torque. So to counter that get under drive pulleys. They help to restore the lost torque and provide more. The CAI and the pulleys are a nice complement to each other and a great way to start off.

After that then go to stuff like the M50 manifold. With the CAI and the M50 manifold you will be taking in more air so after that there is the small chance you may need to get a new exhaust. Most eshausts are designed to help gain HP as well. With the M50 manifold some people have gotten a bigger throttle body as well. Ive considered it but for gains u get the money isnt always worth it. But its good to look into.

After an M50 manifold and exhaust something like the S52 cams would be a good idea. But with the cams you would need software. Thats were the Conforti Shark Injector comes in. It remaps a bunch of stuff like red line fuel injection to get the most out of the mods that you have done. Getting a shark injector as your first mod isnt the best because its better used to blend several mods together to get the most out of them.

After all that, then u should think about gettng a turbo or supercharger.

^ im thinking about buying a cosmos v2 CAI with a 3.5" K&N filter

its shitty no mods are 'cheap' especially on a BMW

im kinda waving out of this its too much money to blow on a 30-40 HP gains you know?
im planing on buying the CAI next week, then latter down the road the m50 manifold conversion with the shark and a nice exhaust. all with time!
thanks for all the ideas guys!

CAI+M50 intake manifold will give you the most bang for the buck. Each mod will cost you around $350. Compare that to an exhaust, which will run you $500-600 and only give you 5-7 hp. ALso, you don't need software to enjoy the gains from these -- they're simple bolt-ons.

Cams get enxpensive mainly because of teh cost of labor. If you don't know exactly what you're doing, it is better to just leave it to saomone who knows and pay them to do it. You also will inevitabvly need new firmware to run the cams. I, personally, don't think this mod is worth the money/trouble.

Anyhow, f you are planning several mods, and you are also thinking of sharking, then I would wait until after you have all your mods on, so that you can get the software that maximizes the gains from all your mods.

check out http://www.sharked.com/ and look at their "cam kits"

i wouldn't order the entire kit at once, but it will give you an idea of the different n/a mods you can do on the intake side of your head.

im surprised no one has mentioned it yet CroCop but u should look into giving your engine the "seafoam" treatment.

if u dont know what it is, it is a product u put into your engine that cleans all the crap right out of it. a very good way to revitilize your engine!

Good luck with everything!

what do you define as a lot of money?

i used to have the eurosport cam kit on my car and it provided great gains. made 207 whp and 187 ft-lbs...so roughly 240-245 hp. but then add up the cost of every component and the labor to install it (none of it is really that tough but i didnt know how to do it at the time) and you realize it is quite pricey for what you get.

what i would do if i were you is look at the aa c-38 supercharger kit. i think its roughly 4k and would net you 250ish whp and has room to move up once aa releases the stg2. with the super charger you could do things like the s52 cams and m50 manifold to get even more power from it. if you really want to make big power start saving your pennies for a turbo kit.

the aa kit would bolt right up to the motor and you would not have to take any of it apart. i think that is the way to go for you.

a high quality oil doesn't clean your injectors or your combustion chamber..... trust me for 10-20$ its well worth it.
