Question Rough as hell idle. WTF mate?

Okay, so I pulled the intake manifold and replaced the two blown out hoses. (They were shooting gas about 2.5 cm onto the manifold. Yay.) Anyway, I replaced that and attached everything else correctly. While I was in there, I cleaned the ICV. However, I accidentally tried to clean it with brake cleaner. (I'm an idiot and didn't look at the cans.) Anyway, so I let it dry and put it all back together in what I think is the proper order and the damn idle is so friggin' rough!

It goes from 300 RPM to 2000 RPM constantly. So I took out the ICV again and cleaned it really good with WD-40 and put it back in. Same thing.

How can I get my idle back?

ive heard this before, dont know how true it is, i remember being told that if the ICV is turned from its original postion, like 90 degrees, that exactly what it does, i think it has something to do with the vacuum hoses connected to it and their alignment respectively

check all your vac lines babe. I'll bet you're overlooking one. (you did replace all gaskets/o-rings for intake right?)

Xsperf is right- that is, if you reversed the lines. The ICV has an arrow stamped on it, which indicates the direction of flow. The arrow points to the hose that goes into the intake manifold.

Chrys and Xsperf, my ICV looks completely different than yours. There is a tube out the top and a tube out the side. I know I put it in the right way since that's the only way to put it in.

And c1apton, I didn't replace the gaskets since they looked fine (they're metal) and I could not find any of these o-rings that everyone is talking about. I've also had a vacuum leak before, this is completely different. A hose disconnected itself one morning and I couldn't even start the car without coughing and whining and then it would shut off. This only affects the idle.

This seems totally illogical, but could it be the throttle body? I wiped it down on the inside with a paper towel, but I didn't clean it real good.

Scratch that. Gas is now pouring from my engine. Idle problem probably linked with that.
