Mine would only do 210 km/hr until the governor kicked in, but the way she went to that speed was amazing. Then I got the dinan chip, which took away power at high RPM's (probably because i do not have the recommended exhaust & intake). She had a much tougher time even getting to 200 with the chip, but down a huge hill I managed to pull off 235 km/hr.
My buddy's 318 also has the governor set to 210km/hr.
ok, so, lets say a my e36 328i is limited at 145 mph.
(idt so but per say)
would that mean that all e36 328i's are set at the same limit? or does it depend by when it was made what yr and such?

So basically, If I were to buy an E36, I couldn't reach it's potential without removing the limiter? That's quite dissapointing, I mean hell, my Accord is capable of 130+MPH.
We don't even know what car rOMA has. Is it a 316i? 318i? other? Ok, so you have a 320i. I guess then youi are bouncing against the Japanese-spec speed limiter. You should get a chip for your car.
The 318is says that it is limited to 118.4 mph. However, I got it up to 127 mph.
Also, the OBC in my cousin's M3 (1995) says the limit is 179 mph. Obviously, we're not going to get it up that fast because it has a head gasket leak, coolant leak, engine tick and 176000 miles, but is that true?

Mine (the US Specs one) was topping off at 115 until I swapped a chipped German Specs ECU in it. I hated every time I felt that "pull" and sputtering once I got to 115. Now, I gan get to 140 and still have some more for 150. Did yours hit a limit when you got to 125 Numark?
I got to 125 and slowed down. didnt try to go any faster with it.

The LIMIT function on the OBC is a user-defined threshold. If and when the car reaches that speed, the OBC triggers an alarm to alert the driver. I doubt you can get a stock US-spec M3 up to 179mph, but I imagine the OBC will let you program that in.

I mean, it's all good if I can delete it you know?
If it's to protect the engine under stock conditions, that's fine, but if I know my engine is modified in such a manner that it can handle that engine speed for a increased amounts of time and so on, then I want the ability to remove/have it removed.
I'm looking at getting an E36 in a very serious way, I love the lines, and I have a weakness for I6's. But if my 15 year old Accord has a higher top speed, that's just not going to work lol

if you ge ta 1995 or prior then the car has OBD! nd it seasy to take the limiter off.
otherwise...i believe most cars 1995 and newwer have an electronic limiter.

The rev limiter and top speed limiter can be removed or set higher on any E36, even OBDII (via Sharking). Usually you still want a rev limiter, because it protects the engine. ou can substitute for your speed limiter (if you actually pay attention while you drive)
