About to stall everytime i take off
Just recently my baby has come to a point where everytime i start the car and take off it has no power. The car starts to shake for around 30 seconds before i the car becomes normal again ( at this time the car is constently reving around 600 rpm for no reason). Also i only used to have a slight irregular idle but now it can not hold idle speed at any rpm. Please help me with these problems, i know it cant be good for the car.

Could be any number of things: Idle control valve, throttle position sensor, fuel filter, clogged injectors, bad coils, vacuum leak, and oxygen sensor are some common culprits. Does the check engine light come on? For starters, see if there are any fault codes stored.

just had the same problem with mine, turned out to be a vacuum hose directly underneath the air flow meter intake had come off.
So assuming your car has the same symptoms as mine had, suspect vacuum hose disconnected or leaking somewhere, do a very very thorough check under the hood , some of these vacuum pipes are hard to see properly.

yeh, i'm gonna get a mate to run a smoke machine through the intake to search for any vacuum leaks. Atm theres no check engine light showing on the dash or OBC. In regards to any faults stored i'm not to sure as i can never get the foot stomp method to work. If i have a bad coil or spark plug will the check light come on or is not that advanced?

You have a '92 right? You & me just missed that feature by a year The '92's run DME software version 3.1, which doesn't detect bad coils or misfires. They added that from '93 on, which run v3.3.1.

Dudesky, can you update the DME to the newer version by any chance?
BTW, ill check all hoses now, getting sick of this problem. Also i've narrowed the problem down to only happening when the engine is warm, not cold.

I'll bet it's a vac leak - they're more evident when warm vs cold (when vac pressure is higher at idle) BTW how many miles on it & when was last major maintenance done?

No. The newer version for the M50 engine accounts for parameters that the 92's didn't have, like knock sensors, VANOS, extra O2 sensors, etc. Even if it did work, it's be much cheaper for you to troubleshoot the usual suspects anyhow. Also get the Bentley service manual, if you don't have it already.
You need to perfect the 5 stomp method- it definitely works, you're just doing it wrong somehow. Key in run position, then hit the gas all the way to the floor, and then take your foot completely off the pedal. Do this 5 times within 5sec of turning the key to the run position. It sounds harder than it actually is.
