HP claims
Im going to install all Dinan ECU, intake and exhaust within the week, and with all this installed it claims it will a total of like 42hp on my 95' 325i. How realistic is that, that seems a little over exageratted. How accurate are these company hp gains.
Also id like to add something else, today i noticed my clock is not showing up on the computer thing in my car. I see the time, but its only visable in total sun light.
HP gains like that is wide open throttle and measured on a "static" engine dyno. Static meaning - engine removed and without trans or accessories mounted.
The horsepower claim does seem a little "out there". I wish I could find something like that.
On the clock, It might be that the backlight bulb might have gone out(my clock on my E30 had the same issue). Don't really know if it's the same but you might want to check that out.

i dont care what kind of ECU, intake or exhaust you get slim chances your getting 42hp out off it. save your money.
cosmo has fiine CAI and if your looking for an exhaust check out understeer.com. they carry UUC and stromung exhaust pretty sweet not as expansive as dinan though.
yeah, stromung exhaust and UUC are dyno proven for at least
+13hp gains. depe4nding on other mods you have in your car.
ii havnt heard of intakes being that effective in horsepower gains, im sure the +500$$ do.
i think chips are the cheapest and easiest in hp gains. do they make chips for 328i? i dont think they do .. .

they do make chips but i seem to be finding less, i have been looking into parts while i get the money to buy them.
you just need to look around, dinan might look tempting because it has so much rep behind it, but look into
bavauto.com
activeautowerke.com
tunermotorsport.com
and i found this, but not to sure on it http://www.eurobahn.us/bmwsuperchips.html
man, are you sure these arent rip offs, I really doubt some of these chips, idk how much ofa difference they make. but thanks on these sites theyre helpfull, did you already get one?

i just put in my chip today. it is an 06/06/1993 325i with 220 000 KMS on it and no engine rebuilt. No intake. No Exhaust. Has a drop-in K&N though, but everything else stock. With the chip, i found the engine to run alot smoother, and quite a bit more power is felt at the lower RPM's. I can actually do a bit of a burnout now by flooring it in the 3000RPM-range and quickly dropping the clutch. Before I could not do a burnout, because if i rev it to 6000 RPM and drop the clutch there, it won't bite. I think i need a new clutch.
But anyway, i had my buddy with a stopwatch and did some runs before and after i put in the chip. My best time before the chip was 7.8 seconds. With the chip i got one 7.2, and the rest were pretty shitty because I think the clutch was not biting due to the extra power. Anyway, the difference was worth waht i paid for the chip (about 250 bucks) and I'm happy. I think in the long run (when i get intake, exhaust and new clutch) I will start getting even more out of this chip.
PS- What do you guys think of K&N cold air intakes?
