This summer iam planning on replacing main components in my suspension, because of uneven tire wear and spongy feeling. I don't know which route to go: bilsteins, H&R race, H&R sport, etc? Also i plan on replacing the front lower control arms also. i figure i can do most of this work myself, with my handy pelican articles. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get what for the best price? and all part choice advice would be greatly appreciated also. Will just replacing front lower control arms+shocks and struts+ lower control arm bushings+alignment change much in terms of uneven tire wear?

P.S. do some struts come with shocks attached as one component? A friend mentioned this to me and I wasnt sure if it was true or not.

Throw EVERYTHING at me that you got; all advice acccepted.

P.P.S. I searched some past forums and didn't find all the answers i was looking for. If anyone has a link i could follow that would be cool too.

Bilstiens seems to be the popular choice with these guys unless they have other ideas with your car being an M3, my buddy had to replace the front struts and balljoints on his M3 due to severe uneven tyre wear, turned out the bearings in the top of the struts were shot. So yep I guess changing the struts etc will improve tyre wear and also enhance your steering /cornering.

i would spend the few extra hundred and buy a nice set of coilovers. bilstein pss9 seems to be a good compramise between performance and comfort...ground control being strictly for performance.

upgrade to e46 m3 rear shock mount. check on understeer.com, i believe they have some sort of suspension reinforcement package.

you could replace worn bushings with uruthane ones...less comfort but more performance.

if you have problems with tire wear in the back due to too much camber you could get uuc adjustable rear control arms....front tire wear problems is most likely an alignment issue.

some cheap ugrades you can do are x brace (approx $100) and front and rear strut tower braces.

It really depends on your budget.
If your not really trippin on the budget go for what B_w says. But if your budget is tight. Just go with the blistein suspension kit. shouldnt be more than 650-700 for the whole kit. Thats what im going to go for, because i have the stock blistein, and their practicly tore up, but i still eat corners at 60-70. So i imagine if i just grab a new kit itl be even better.

yeah I've tradeed in my stock suspension for some brand new bilstein shocks n stuts w H&R racing springs. yeah they will run a bit on the far side of the cash pot but damn it its worth every penny if your looking for better handleing/cornering and stability in your ride. it def. makes a big difference. bilstein's are the way to go
