Question exhaust

i have recently replaced my back box on my bimmer. but the other day whilst driving home i went through a large puddle and instantly my exhaust sounded like it was blowing, after driving a few miles the noise died down. then after starting my car a few hours later the noise has gone completely any ideas what this could be ??
