BMW is coming out with it's own performance line of parts in June/July. Now they wont' have anything for the e36, but they do have a short shifter for the E46, E90. I've drove it already. Feels good. The price is aroung 225.00. You may be able to retro maybe?

try looking at some z3 shifters. same result, much cheaper. talk to nick318iS for more details, as mine was a gift so i didn't have to find it.

yeah I need something cheaper its a pain in the butt droping $200 on a short throw I my car is still stock except the Bilstein shocks/struts and the Konig 18". I still have alot of work left and throwing $200 or so on a short throw shifter is a bi*h lol.

I thought understeer would have a decent price. Might want to look into if there is a shorter lever that can be swapped from an e46. I swapped mine with a z3 1.9.

Try understeer...

http://www.understeer.com/onlinestore-shifters.shtml

I think they have some for your car for like $80

Go to PelicanParts.com They have the parts and the DIY right on the site, I ordered everything to rebuild all the shifter linkage bushings and a short shifter. Shifter was @ $65 Full bushing kit @ $90 Does not look to hard to do. The pictures on the DIY are great.
