Catalytic Converter

I just realized my 93 e36 still has the original catalytic converter in it. I guess I would get alot more power if i take it out, eh? Any clue how much it should gain/ should i bother putting another one in there?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. No emissions testing in my county.

depends on a lot of things. how your car was driven all its life, how it was maintained, etc. that will determine how bad of shape it is in, and therefore how much difference in flow it would make to remove it or upgrade it. i have emissions testing where i live so upgrading would be my only option. not really up there on my list until im doing a full exhaust. keep us posted as to your decision and the outcome. thanks

Apart from potential legal problems, you might seriously f*** up all the electronic engine management tied in with emissions control, and then driveability problems could ensue.

3050, that is the only thing stopping me. I don't want to remove them & make things worse. 133k mi......I'm either removing them or buying high-flow. I am still mulling it over.

I removed my catalytic converts about 6 months ago and have had no problems as of yet. As far as power gain. Its hard to say I put a set of headers on and built my own track pipe the same time i removed the catalytic converters. It made a noticable amount of top end pull. It makes alittle too much noice so i would recomend replacing the cats with resonators to help keep it quite.

yeah taking them out will definatly take away your lower end a little. itll open up the top end though. alot. the only thing i recomend is you might just program it. or just take the battery loose when you do it and it should just set its self back up. brother.

So...how it goes? I mean what happen now with the power of your car? Does it increased. I wanna know beacuse I am planning also to take it out(my Spam removed- last warning). I just wanna know if it is applicable or not. Please!

Ooooh :eek a link in his post . . I think I'll click on it! Wow- someplace to buy car parts, how convenient :doh

Why have we not banned this spammer yet? Every one of his useless posts has absolutely nothing to contribute. Not to mention he hasn't even mastered the English language.
