E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
Hey guys, it's summer time and that means summer car projects for me. A small project I'm toying with is whether or not to tint my ambers and tails. I'm fairly indecisive about this. I like the stock look, but I like black more. I think my ambers stick out too much. But if I tint the ambers, I tint the tails. (Excepting the white reverse light, imo, it looks more stock that way.) So, help me decide!
Here's the stock look from the front:
Here's the front with 35% tint on the ambers:
Here's the front with 50% tint on the ambers:
And the back stock:
35% tint on tails:
50% tint on tails:
Help me decide guys.

I have smoked front and clear tails, but I also like the look of stock ambers in the front. That's why I saved them in case I change my mind. However, the one thing I hate is amber tails.
I say if you have amber, don't modify the lenses. If you wanna change things, then switch altogether to clear or smoke.
I retract my vote too. I evidently never paid attention when they tried to teach me to read before I signed anything. I thought you were talking about your windows. I say no tint. Black is one of the colors that best pulls off the ambers.
Dont tint, if you want to change get clears or smoked lenses.
Not singling Nick out, but I don't think you guys are listening to me. What I will end up with is smoked lenses on the ambers and tails. A friend of mine did it on his 3000GT VR-4. It looks nice. Here's a before and after. He did the front ambers too. They look very nice..
He did the tinting himself. Very nice, and he's agreed to teach me/do it for me.
Also, I hate clear corners. I cannot stress that enough.
What I'm asking for is what you all think as far as smoked corners go, like in the six pictures I photoshopped for you all.
Also, if you look at the pictures, all my windows are at 20% tint. So, no, I'm not trying to tint my windows again. Thanks anyway though.

Yeah. Once I read the first post and saw the pictures I realized what you were saying. That is why I said above that in my opinion you should not do the tinting.

Yeah, dont tint lights. It will only make a civic look better, but not a BMW. Bimmers have beautiful lights, which should stand out.
It is almost mandatory to tint windows as much as the law lets you though.
