preformance upgrades?
so i just bought my 95 325i last week. and after i put a new fuel pump and rear main seal in, i was wanting to put a little more pep in its step. so what do you guys recomend as far as gettin a few more horses out of it on a budget? also im really wanting to tear out the auto trans and swap out a 5 spd. anything special i should take into consideration before doing this? it should just bolt rite in right? minus installing the clutch pedal and what not. i dont know what do you guys think?

As far as power goes you should start with the basics, a good intake, chip, and exhaust. As as for a 5-speed, switching out an automatic for a manual is no walk in the park, I mean the getreg 5-speed bell houseing does bolt right up to the engine, but theres alot of other shit that goes along with a MT; slave cylander, master cylander, the clutch, you probly need to get a driveshaft out of a 5-speed also. Although if your planning on doing serious modifications to the engine in the future, I'd suggest looking into a ZF 5-speed from a 328, they can take alot more tourqe. If you don't want to spend the money paying someone to do the manual conversion, or time and effort doing it yourself, an automatic trans chip from dinan can help.

It's is the OBD 1 M50 2.5l vanos motor.
Going to manual isn't too bad. But like someone said further up you need quite a few parts. I am so close to doing this with my 325i, but I might be also getting a coupe soon, that I am going to setup for track driving (turns, not 1/4 mile) so it might not be worth it..

yeah ive done plenty of trans work in the past but like i said most of it was domestic. but nothins happening yet on the count of the amount of spare change i have i.e. $0 so im still lookin at all the options ya know. but if i just happen to stumble upon the cash then ill probly dig in and swap that bitch out. haha
