Does my key have a chip in it? I really hope not because I took another look at www.unitedautosecurity.com and saw they had some cool remote keys(new style) and I know this wont work if it has a chip, does anyone know if it has one, or is it split by build date?

haha, oh yes i remember now, no the key is silver, but I think it has a chip in it anyway b/c i took it to a locksmith and he said it had a chip in it....
that raises the quesiton, if i insert a key in the ignition that doesnt have the chip, what will happen exactly, will it just keep spinning?

ok, change my mind, it is gold, but it is very very very faint(its practically silver) the only reason i can differentiate was by putting my house key side by side and saw the SLIGHT color difference

All models from build date 1/95 and up incorporated the EWS II antitheft system, which has the chip embedded in the key. If the codes don't match up, the starter and ECU are disabled.
